Approach and Qualifications

Personal Approach:

I am a qualified and experienced Integrative psychotherapist and counsellor with an MSc Integrative Psychotherapy, from a leading reputable training provider called Metanoia Institute London visit Metanoia for information on their training courses and workshops.  In addition I am a qualified supervisor and can offer supervision to trainees, and experienced therapists for their client work.  I have been seeing clients since 2011 in the Milton Keynes, Woburn Sands and Bedford areas.

I am a registered member of UKCP - United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (membership number 2011163838) and I abide by their codes of ethics.

Working in an integrative way means I draw on a range of theories and models where the emphasis is on the quality of the relationship, with self and others, and that we all have unique family, cultural and life experiences. I welcome inquiries from individuals from black and ethnic minority backgrounds as well as LGBTQ+ and have worked with individuals who are struggling with cultural identity issues.

According to research a key factor for a successful therapeutic outcome is not related to the approach, it is more about the nature and quality of the relationship that is developed between the client and therapist. So initially the main focus will be about building a relationship with you, along with being curious and interested in the dynamics of our relationship, your relationship with self, and how we impact on each other.

I also believe that trauma, depression, obsessive ruminating thoughts, and anxiety arises out of relational experiences, which are rooted in earlier childhood experiences. These relational dynamics can affect how we relate to self, as well as our perceptions and reactions to others, which produces unhelpful patterns and ways of relating. The outcome is cycles of distress, anxiety, sadness, fear, anger and unhappiness.

Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist, I have previously worked in the NHS, and the charitable sector in a managerial capacity. I have also worked for the Open University as a Lecturer on their psychology and counselling courses.

My experience is...

about working with people on a wide range of issues including: depression; anxiety; stress; relationship issues; OCD; panic attacks; suicidal thoughts; trauma; work related issues; abuse (emotional, physical and sexual); victimisation; infidelity; betrayal; disability and illness; anger management; bereavement; and other emotional and mental health problems.
