Approach and Qualifications
I am a qualified and experienced Integrative psychotherapist with an MSc Integrative Psychotherapy, from a leading reputable training provider called Metanoia Institute London visit Metanoia for information on their training courses and workshops. I have been seeing clients since 2011 and I cover the Milton Keynes, Woburn Sands and Bedford areas.
I am a registered member of BACP - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (membership number: 00698316) and UKCP - United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy membership number 2011163838) and I abide by their codes of ethics.
Working in an integrative way means I draw on a range of theories and methods where the emphasis is on the quality of the relationship, and that we all have unique family, cultural and life experiences.
According to research a key factor for a successful therapeutic outcome is not related to the approach, it is more about the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. So the way that I work is to focus on building a relationship with you, along with being curious and interested in the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship and how we impact on each other.
I also believe that trauma, depression, obsessive ruminating thoughts, and anxiety arises out of relational experiences, which are rooted in earlier childhood experiences. These relational dynamics can affect how we perceive and react to others, which produces unhelpful patterns and ways of relating. The outcome is cycles of distress, anxiety, sadness, fear, anger and unhappiness.
I also work for the Open University as an Associate Lecturer, tutoring on counselling and psychotherapy based courses. Please visit the Open University if you are interested in finding out more about the range of counselling and psychology courses that are available.
Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist, I have previously worked in the NHS, and the charitable sector in a managerial capacity, as well as in education too.
I have worked with clients on a wide range of issues including: depression; anxiety; stress; relationship issues; OCD; panic attacks; suicidal thoughts; trauma; work related issues; abuse (emotional, physical and sexual); victimisation; infidelity; betrayal; disability and illness; anger management; bereavement; and other emotional and mental health problems.
