Psychotherapy and Counselling - Milton Keynes - Woburn Sands - Bedford
What can I expect from counselling and psychotherapy?
At the first session we will identify your aims and how we can work collaboratively to achieve what you wish to get out of the sessions. Then we will explore your issues, along with your thoughts and feelings surrounding the dilemmas you are facing. You will be encouraged to reflect on your thought processes, feelings, reactions and behaviours, and sometimes these will be challenged empathically, with humour and sensitivity so that you can take a different perspective. The therapeutic process will help you to facilitate a deeper understanding of whatever your issues or problems are, and in what context or situation they emerge. This will then provide you with the opportunity to consider different choices, options, and ways of relating to self and with others to create change.
Coming into therapy might seem like a big step and it might be difficult to admit that whatever is going on you need help. It is a misconception that you need to work out your problems on your own as we all need support, help and objectivity at some time in life. You may have questions and concerns about how counselling or psychotherapy will impact upon you personally and with other key relationships. Whatever your concerns are please be assured, I am very happy to speak to you over the telephone and take the time to answer any questions you have without any obligation to set up sessions. If you can make that first step to come into counselling this will help you to develop more awareness about what is going on for you without feeling judged, embarrassed or uncomfortable.
